It's snowing where I live and where I work. It's our first snow, and it's really pretty. I love winter. I love the holidays, I love the spareness of dormancy, and I love snow. I don't so much love the extra forty-five minutes that were added to my commute this morning, but for now, the vast white makes up for it.
We don't get as much snow as we used to in this area. Some years are heavier than others, and if this turns out to be a heavy snow year, at some point the commuting pain will overbalance the snow reverence. Snow reverence also vanishes when the sun goes down, so I may be cursing the big sloppy as early as this evening. But for now: it's really pretty.
Anyway, in celebration of the current snow and in preemptive amelioration of this evening's painful commute, here are a few pictures of my favorite thing

If I ever get around to writing my Great American Novel, I totally am going to call it "The Spareness of Dormancy." What a lovely turn of phrase!
